About Roller Hockey

    Roller Hockey is one of the fastest sport you may have ever seen it requires great skill and coordination.This is a sport which is in need of some serious sponsorship in this country as this is one of the main things that keeps us from being one of the best in the world. In the first 30 years of this century, roller skating was a big national pastime. Roller Hockey started to flourish. England dominated international championship events taking European and World titles. After the 2nd world war. Portugal, Italy and Spain emerged as the dominant forces, and are still the best today. The sport was demonstrated at the Barcelona Olympics. Lets hope it will become a full Olympic sport soon. Roller Hockey is a non-contact sport not like ice hockey, and inline skate hockey, Roller Hockey is played with a ball and short sticks similar in style to those used in field hockey. Quad skates predominate because of their superior maneuverability compared to inline skates. Roller Hockey within The National Roller Hockey Association (NRHA) All players wishing to compete must register with the (NRHA) through a club of there choice. This is usually the one closes to them clubs spread from Plymouth and Glasgow. Clubs can compete in regional and National competitions. These catering for all ages and abilities.

National Roller Hockey Association

Referee

One or two may be on the park at a time but this is normally one.

He is responsible for ensuring that the rules of the game are observed.

Time Keepers

Responsible for ensuring correct timing of the game and to keep the scores on the match sheet

The Teams

NRHA Competition

Teams must Present themselves with a minimum of 6 players, one of which must be a goalkeeper. Where the team list gives 10 players, this number must include two goalkeepers

On The Rink

Each side is only four players and one goalkeeper on the rink at a time.

High Stick

Players should not lift his stick above his shoulder during play in which he participates.

Non-Contact Sport

This should allow you to use your skills to play the game .

If contact does happen then the offending team/player will be penalized.
